MATERIALS:
1. Medium weight size 4 yarn in any color.
NOTE: If you plan to brush the top of his head, use acrylic or natural fibers like wool. Cotton will not work.
2. 3.5 mm crochet hook.
3. Stitch marker.
4. Bent Yarn needle.
5. Polyfil.
6. Two 6 mm safety eyes.
7. Sewing pins to hold pieces in place.
8. Jump rings & pliers: if adding the earrings and/or jewelry clasp hardware.
9. Fabric glue: to secure ends and glue on velcro if you choose not to sew it on.
10. Sewing needle & thread: if you choose to sew the velcro on.
11. Cat hairbrush (Optional for fuzzy hair).
12. Lobster clasp: as shown on the purple bat.

STITCHES: (U.S. Terms)
Magic ring: Tutorial below:

ch(s): chain(s)
sc: single crochet
st(s): stitch(s)
inc: increase. 2 sc in the same stitch.
dec: single crochet 2 together. Do the invisible decrease so you don’t see big holes. Video tutorial below.

dc: double crochet
hdc: half double crochet
tr: triple crochet
picot: ch 2, sl st into the base. Here is a video showing how:

NOTES:
1. Use stitch markers. Here is a video showing how.

2. The yarn colors mentioned in the instructions are based on the purple bat, but green was used for the photos to be easier to see.
2. Do not count chs unless noted.
3. You do not want to crochet too loose because you will end up seeing the white fiberfill through your stitch holes. Go down in hook size if necessary.
4. Depending on your yarn and tension, the finished bat is about 2 inches (5 cm) tall from the tip of the ears to the bottom of the head, and 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) wide from the tips of the wings.
5. Use the seamless join technique when joining pieces together so it is smooth. Here is a video tutorial showing how:

Sew 2 white triangles for fangs at the edges of the mouth line.

They are 2 sts long, going over rows 4 & 5.

Here is a video showing how to brush the yarn with the cat brush:

Check out this one made by my pattern tester @avocadostitchery !
